Panerai, a brand synonymous with precision watchmaking, continues to push the limits of its heritage with the release of the Luminor Dieci Giorni GMT Ceramica PAM01483 at the prestigious Watches & Wonders 2024 show in Shanghai. This model, which joins the Luminor Complicazioni collection, celebrates the union of minimalist design with cutting-edge watchmaking technologies.
The genesis of P.2003 movement
At the heart of the PAM01483 beats the P.2003 caliber, an automatic movement developed in-house at the Panerai factory in Neuchâtel, Switzerland. This movement means long-lasting power reserves, a concept dear to Panerai since the 1960s, when the brand equipped Italian Navy commandos with hand-wound watches that could last eight days without additional winding. This movement features a 10-day power reserve, and sets itself apart with its complex construction made up of 296 components and its 25 jewels, which provide it with durability and precision.
The P.2003 is also equipped with three barrels with an even distribution of energy to guarantee constant precision throughout the power reserve. What’s more, its seconds-reset device allows ultra-precise settings, indispensable for connoisseurs of fine watchmaking.
Iconic design
The Luminor Dieci Giorni GMT Ceramica captivates with its 44 mm black ceramic case, a material chosen not only for its modern, elegant appearance, but also for its exceptional scratch resistance. The black ceramic gives the watch a dark, sophisticated look, while the green satin-sunray dial with sandwich construction adds considerable depth to the model. The dial features a domed sapphire crystal, an extremely hard material made from corundum, second only to the diamond in hardness. This glass not only provides impact protection, but also enhances dial legibility, while adding an extra dimension to the design.
The linear power-reserve indicator, positioned on the dial, is a nod to historic Panerai watches while incorporating a contemporary touch. The watch also displays a GMT function, with an orange arrow indicating the second time zone and a day/night distinction, making it a perfect accessory for the well-travelled..
Waterproof
Water-resistance is another key feature of the Luminor Dieci Giorni GMT Ceramica. Capable of withstanding 10 bars of pressure, i.e. a depth of around 100 meters, this model has been tested under pressure 25% higher than the norm to guarantee its robustness, even in extreme conditions. The model comes with two interchangeable straps: one in black alligator, classic and elegant, and the other in khaki green rubber, more casual and sporty. This duality allows the watch to adapt equally well to a formal environment or an outdoor adventure.
With this model, Panerai is writing the history of a brand that, since its origins in 1860, has never stopped developing and pushing the limits of watchmaking. The PAM01483 is destined to become a masterpiece for collectors and watch lovers looking for sophistication and reliability.
