Electric supercars: dreams without borders

Luxury and sports car manufacturers may be thinking about going electric, but they are taking it slowly. Their approach, with the hybrid in particular, which they use and abuse, is producing “devastating” results, to say the least.

Cadillac, the American dream

With its Lyriq, a 100% electric luxury SUV, the American brand (General Motors) is making its comeback in France, in its new Parisian showroom. With a 102 kWh battery (528 hp, 610 Nm, 0 to 100 in 5.3 s), and available with all-wheel drive (Sport and Luxury finishes), it claims a range of 530 km and the ability to recharge up to 200 km in 15 minutes. 21-inch 12-spoke wheels, Nappa leather upholstery, three-zone automatic air conditioning, heated seats at the front (+ massage function) and back, panoramic roof with electric sunshade... New Audi E-Tron, the other German dream

The Audi e-tron GT Quattro and RS e-tron GT have been the top electric sports models of the brand with the four rings since their launch in 2021. The new versions improve range, performance, charging, and add even more with the “Performance” version. With its new electric motor on the rear axle, the maximum power reaches 630 kW (856 hp, 0 to 100 km/h in 2.8 s, 250 km/h) while the Performance version boasts 680 kW (925 hp, 0 to 100 in 2.5 s) and becomes the most powerful production car ever produced by Audi, while the maximum range has been increased to 609 km, bearing in mind that it can be recharged from 10 to 80% in just 18 minutes at a high-power station. Lamborghini, the German-Transalpine dream

Was it to taunt the Chinese that Lamborghini presented a fine double bill at the Beijing Motor Show? On the one hand there was the Urus SE, the first plug-in hybrid version (PHEV) of its super SUV (265,000 €). For the occasion, it unveiled its new design, its unique on-board technology and, above all, its 800 hp hybrid powertrain (950 Nm, 0 to 100 km in 3.4 s, 312 km/h). On the other hand, the sultry Revuelto (around 500,000 €) adds to its 825 hp V12 - they are becoming rare! - a “small” electric motor, producing 190 hp all the same, for a total of 1,015 hp (0 to 100 km/h in 2.5 s, 350 km/h).

Maserati Grancabrio Folgore 100% electric, the Italian dream

As announced by the company, by 2025 (that's now!), all Maserati models will be fully electric. We had the pleasure of discovering the beautiful Grecale Folgore SUV (Thunder in Italian)(550 hp) in Monaco. Now here is the GranCabrio, the segment's first fully electric convertible, claiming to be the fastest on the market: 290 km/h. Nothing could be more normal when you consider that its 800V technology comes directly from Formula E. With its three 300 kW engines, it boasts 761 hp with an incredible torque of 1,350 Nm! and performances to match: 0 to 100 in 2.8 s. As for range, it is given as 447 km. 208,850 €

BMW I7 M70 XDrive, the German dream

We can attest that the only electric “limousine” on the market - apart from the Rolls “Spectre” from the same group (BMW) - invites you to settle into the back, in your club chair facing its giant screen (option: 4,900 €). So, comfortably seated, with personal air conditioning, massage seat, heating, 2,000-watt sound system with 39 speakers, you can look forward to a peaceful journey. Driving it is another moment of happiness because it is the most powerful model, its engine generating 660 hp (0 to 100 km/h in 3.7 s, 250 km/h). For driving... or letting yourself be driven. Between 121,150 € and 158,750 €.

Rolls-Royce Spectre, the so British dream!

One cannot evoke the world of luxury without mentioning Rolls-Royce and its famous Spectre, the super ultra-luxurious electric coupe. Rest assured that while the famous manufacturer will be launching several electric models over the next two years, including an SUV smaller than the Cullinan (early 2027), and the iconic Phantom is expected to have an electric successor in 2028, the magnificent V12 will remain in the catalog until 2030. In the meantime, the performance of this Spectre with its two synchronous motors lives up to expectations.

The front motor produces 190 kW (365 Nm), the rear 360 kW (710 Nm), which is equivalent to a 584 hp combustion engine with 900 Nm of torque. And weight is no matter: the Spectre goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds and has a range of 530 km. The rest is very much Rolls-Royce: spacious, luxurious, refined, in the tradition of the legendary Phantom coupe.

Porsche Taycan, the sports dream

We've been talking about this Taycan since the beginning of the year, but it really does belong in this section. If Porsche modernized the Taycan range at the beginning of 2024, increasing the power and range (up to 628 km) and optimizing the charging performance of its 100% electric sports car, three new versions now complete the range, which now includes 16 models, starting with the new Taycan GTS (700 hp, 0 to 100 in 3.3 s), asserting itself as the sportiest model outside the Turbo sphere, and available in Sports sedan and Sport Turismo versions. From 103,200 € for the basic version (Taycan rear-wheel drive) to 152,530 € for the GTS.

Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV 680, the dream of luxury

After its launch on the American market, this Maybach SUV is arriving in France. With this luxurious model and its distinctive grille, as well as the characteristic two-tone paint with its filigree stripe (optional), this elegant electric SUV with 4MATIC all-wheel drive offers a comfortable and luxurious driving experience. With a power output of 484 kW, it has a range of 612 km. The little extra comes from the digital key to (un)lock and start the vehicle with a compatible device (iPhone or Apple Watch) which can be shared with up to 16 people via AirDrop, iMessage or other platforms. 216,250 €

Ferrari F80: A 1,200 HP V6 Hybrid

This summer, we drove the 296 GTS, the 830 hp hybrid convertible that escapes the super carbon tax, just like the SF 90 hybrid (with almost 1,000 hp!), the pleasure being in the form, the prices too, going from 317,000 € to 425,000 €. In 2025, the (very) controversial F80, whose V6 Hybrid develops 1,200 hp, will hit our roads. Despite its cost (3.5 million euros), all 799 units planned are said to have already been sold!

Aston Martin Valhalla

We are really waiting for the “definitive” version of this already legendary car before it hits our roads, which should be any day now. We like to dream about this first production mid-engined supercar from the brand, with its hybrid powertrain combining a 750 hp twin-turbo V8 with two 204 hp electric motors for a combined output of 950 hp (0 to 100 km/h in 2.5s, 350 km/h) and its new 8-speed transmission. From dream to reality, you first need to save 680,000 €.
